NMAI Catalog

The National Museum of the American Indian requested a catalog designed with all of their updates for 2015 - 2016. I enjoyed this project because it had a solid concept and plenty of imagery to present and reflect. I arranged articles and added breathing space by using designs to represent stitch work and beads. To keep the reader interested, I gave each page a slightly different layout, but also maintained a consistent art style throughout the catalog. A color pallet that primarily consisted of tan and brown was used to represent animal hides, ceramics, straw, wood and other natural materials found in American Indian culture. To help represent the essence of the Indian culture, a typography was specially selected because of its similarity to Indian style wood carvings. I truly enjoyed working on this project. It produced the results the client was looking for and it was truly rewarding to see it all come together like this.
